What are the characteristics of a Saint Bernard?

Saint Bernard is a very large and strong dog. They are very muscular with a might powerful head. This  dog has two types of coat. One has rough and smooth but both very dense and come in white with marks of tan coloring. The face and the ears on this dog are usually shaded with black and the expression is intelligent and gentle look. In the rough coated dogs the hair is usually long and there is some kind of feathery hair on the thigh and leg areas. They are extremely gentle and friendly. They have tolerance with little children. They move slow but are very patient and obedient. This dog just thinks about pleasing and is loyal. This dog is also a good watch dog and trains easily but better yet to train when a puppy. They do however have a drooling problem after they eat or drink.Long walks each day for this breed will do just fine for his or hers exercise. It will keep the dog in good condition. They live up to 8-10 years.
